About
As a kid I always enjoyed taking photos but it wasn’t until 1996 that I truly became interested in photography. It was during Year 9 and instead of going on a week long School trip, I opted to stay at school and try my luck with a photography class. At the time, you could only study at school when you hit sixth form (the government need to change this!) so I knew I might not get the chance to try it out again. I grabbed the chance with both hands.
My assignment was go to the Abbey Gardens and take photographs – you can’t get an easier brief than that. As a 14 year old boy I found it fascinating to take my shot film back to the studio and develop it; developer, water, fixer, water then waiting for it to dry. I had my images on a negative that I could print with.
I’ve always been creative and wanted to pursue Art and Design, so I did. At college I started off doing a GNVQ course in Art and Design. Within the course I got to learn more photography, here I learnt a great deal more with lighting techniques, darkroom techniques and just being more creative. From this course I spent another 4 years at college learning what I decided was to be my trade.
Today, I’ve pretty much hung up my film camera and jumped on the digital band wagon. I’ve worked with other well established photographers and learnt tricks of the trade and with the joy of digital I get to experiment more without the cost of processing film.
Anyway, enough about me. More about my work. Please take some time and have a look at my work, feel free to bookmark my; website, Facebook page and follow me on Twitter as I’m always updating them with more photographs and discussion blogs.
With the world as my subject and the light as my media anything is possible.
