Thanks for your comment Dave. Love your Saturn V photographs, stunning.
I'm not a big fan of photographic editing I prefer to spend as little time on my laptop and try to get it right first time so I have more time to photograph and enjoy the surroundings.

Many other photographers keep telling me to jump of the old fashioned horse and cart style of photography (film) and jump into the car era (digital) so maybe I should just give HDR a go, if I can put my opinion of digital editing is cheating behind me.

It seems you have judged HDR based purely on a collection of poor tutorials and badly executed images. That's a shame since, used properly, it's an enormously useful tool. If HDR is cheating, I would argue that filters, dodging and burning, contrast adjustment and pretty much every other "classic" darkroom trick is equally naughty. HDR is just another tool we can use to overcome the limitations of the medium in which we work - no more, no less despite the fact that too many people assume it's a look rather than a technique.

Treat yourself to a look at some HDR done properly (which is tricky to find since you won't recognise the images as anything other than great, realistic-looking photos) and I'm pretty sure you will change your opinion.

Thanks for your comment John. You have a point Debenhams does stand out from the other buildings, however it just looks like a poor mans Bullring in Birmingham. With the amount of money that was splashed out on the whole project you would of thought a more creative building would have been designed?

Not sure about your comments re. Debenhams. Would you prefer it to have 90 degree angles and look like a box or any other shop in bury?

It's probably the best thing about the Arc, the rest of which resembles a grey universe of dullness, clothes shops, and more grey stuff.
